Bill teaches students to become writers who can think, organize their thoughts and express themselves independently.
With a vast background in journalism, he focuses on teaching how to have something worth saying, and then how to make a reader want to keep reading it.
Tutoring with Bill will be:
Professional instruction from a seasoned writer
Development of writing skills without the use of AI
Personalized with learning goals based on individual student’s skills and needs
Tutoring with Bill will not be:
Grammar lessons - but grammar may be taught as needed along the way
Homework help - but homework assignments may be used as guides or examples
Boring
Tutoring is available for Grade 9 and up including post-secondary.
The Tutor
The Nelson Star for 10 years, he won numerous Canadian and BC journalism awards. He has also written for The Tyee, The Vancsouver Sun, Kootenay Mountain Culture and produced radio documentaries for Kootenay Co-op Radio and CBC Radio.

Initial Consultation (20 minutes): FREE
A brief meeting to discuss learning hopes and needs. Consultation can be with or without parent accompaniment depending on age.
Tutoring Sessions (1 hour): $60
Sessions can take place in person in Nelson BC or online on Zoom.
Tutoring sessions available 7 days a week from 8am-5pm
